Final Portfolio Target Audience Statement

I want anyone who views my portfolio to leave with a sense that I am friendly, intelligent, excited and determined to achieve my goals. I make these goals clear on my homepage so the reader can find out early on if I would be a good fit for a position they are trying to fill. I also go more in depth on my career goals in the about me section so if the employer is interested from the homepage, they can read a more in depth explanation of what I want to do and contribute to a company. I want the reader to come away feeling like they know what kind of person I am and what I can best contribute to a potential job position. I keep a serious tone consistent throughout the portfolio for the most part and hopefully that sends a message to any potential employer that I am serious about my work and take pride in it and would carry that same attitude to their company. My ideal action I would want a reader to take is to get in contact with me to talk further about my work experiences or set up an interview for an open position so I make it clear how I can be contacted with my email on the homepage, a section on the right of every page that includes my email in addition to a dedicated page with multiple ways they can use to contact me.

My target audience for my portfolio is an older man or woman who have a steady job at a company they like working for and ideally in a location that is along the east coast as I don't want go too far away from my family as they are all in Pennsylvania. Also, they should be in a position in their company that they have the power to hire new people or someone who has influence among his or her coworkers and can recommend my portfolio to someone who can set up an interview. I hope they are passionate about their job and are excited to go to work everyday when they wake up in the morning. Finally, I hope they have a family and their job allows them to spend enough time with their family but also has a good enough salary so the family can be supported.

I believe the design and content of my portfolio communicates my intended message effectively. It is laid out neatly and clearly organized to allow easy navigation between pages. Along with the neat and organized design, the content of my text gets my message across of being friendly, excited, intelligent and that I am determined to have a good job after college. I provide a good background about who I am so the reader has a good idea of my personality but I also list my past experiences that will be a benefit to them if I was to become employed at their company. These experiences include life decisions that have helped me to grow and become a more mature person, my past work experiences that have benefited my ability to work with a team and my work with various computer programs and what I have produced using them. I give plenty of examples of the work I have produced in various tabs on the portfolio and describe my thought process when I went about producing each of them. All of this hopefully will be appealing to my target audience of a happily employed man or woman who is looking to add a new employee to their company.

iMovie Project 2 Target Audience Statement

My intended message is to educate young men as well as older men on how to tie a tie so that they will be able to do it on their own in the future. Any person looking for a how to tie a tie video is clearly interesting in knowing how to do that for a date or formal event where they want to be looking their best. By the end of it, I hope the viewers have a sense of satisfaction in learning how to tie a tie and are able to do it on their own on demand without any tutorial from now on.

My intended audience is aimed directly at males. Women typically do not have to tie a tie for a formal event so it is not aimed at women. Primarily, it is for young males in their teenage years that are tying a tie for the first time for a high school homecoming dance or going to their first formal event and want to learn how to do it without any help from parents, siblings or friends. It is also aimed at older males in their 20s or 30s who are in college and getting ready to go to a formal dance or have graduated and are preparing for a job interview and want to make sure they are looking their best.

I am able to address this audience because I explain how to do it in a serious manner and I am also in a similar age group to my target audience so it makes it easier for the viewer to relate to me. I also do it quickly since anyone watching it is most likely in the process of getting dressed up to go out so I get right to it and do not waste much time introducing myself.  I talk clearly and along with verbally explaining how to do it, I physically tie a tie so they can learn by listening or just follow along with what I am doing. I provide enough detail when I verbally explain the process and try not to over complicate it for the younger viewers since they might think it is a more complicated process than it really is.
